Zen Financial is a 100% independent, fiduciary advisory firm. No broker-dealer. No commissions. We work for our clients — exclusively.
We serve businesses and their retirement plans, and we serve individuals and families with their personal investments. Two sides of the same commitment: build a real process, apply it with discipline, and grow our clients.
That word — grow — is important. A lot of firms in this industry measure success by how many clients they bring in. We measure success by how much we grow the clients we already have. Whether that’s helping someone save more through a smarter strategy, positioning their accounts so everything works together, or finding opportunities to reduce their tax burden — our focus is always on moving the needle forward for the people who are already here.
Zen Financial is based in Andover, Massachusetts and York, Maine, serving clients across New England.
There’s a reason we chose to build the firm here. The New England coast has a way of putting things in perspective — it reminds you what you’re working for. When we’re not working with clients, you’ll find us hiking, running along the coast, exploring by boat, or out on a Sunday drive through southern Maine. It’s the kind of life our clients are working toward, and it keeps us grounded in why this work matters.
Every conversation with a Zen Financial client has a purpose. Here’s the reality of working with us:
We have a system, and we follow it.
Our investment management process has defined trigger points for every market condition. When markets are up, we have a playbook. When markets are down, we have a playbook. We don’t react emotionally and we don’t make guesses. We execute a disciplined process that’s been built to perform across market cycles.
We get things done.
When you meet with us, things move forward. Action items get completed. Strategies get implemented. Accounts get positioned. We’re not in the business of talking about what we could do — we’re in the business of doing it.
We communicate when it matters.
Our communication isn’t random, and it isn’t scripted corporate email blasts. It’s built into our investment management system. When market conditions shift, you hear from us — with context, not panic. When things are going well, you hear from us too — because you should know when your strategy is working.
We scale with you.
Our portfolio system is designed to grow as you grow. Whether you’re starting with your first investment account or you’ve accumulated significant assets, we have a strategy that fits. And as your financial picture evolves, your strategy evolves with it. You don’t outgrow Zen — Zen grows with you.
We’re not affiliated with a broker-dealer. We don’t earn commissions. Every recommendation we make is based solely on what’s best for you.
Our communication framework is part of our investment system. You hear from us when market conditions shift, when opportunities arise, and when your strategy is working. Not just when something goes wrong.
Every conversation with us has a purpose. Every meeting ends with real action items that get done. We meet with individual clients twice a year — spring and fall — and both sessions are structured around making measurable progress.
Our investment management process has defined trigger points for every market condition. When markets move — up or down — we execute a disciplined playbook, not an emotional reaction.
We’ve built a portfolio system that starts where you are and grows as you grow — from foundational strategies to advanced solutions like the Zen 40, pledged asset lines, and private real estate. You never outgrow Zen.
For businesses with retirement plans, we deliver hands-on participant education every year. We sit down with your employees and help each one calculate their personal retirement number and how much they need to save to get there.
We don’t chase new clients. We grow the ones we have. That’s a fundamentally different way to run an advisory firm, and it changes everything about how we work, how we communicate, and how we measure success.
I work with business owners who want to keep far more of what they earn and build wealth with stronger, more intentional systems. I guide and execute alongside owners as their strategic financial partner. That includes designing and running retirement plans like Solo 401(k)s, 401(k)s with employees, and cash balance plans, while also coordinating with CPAs, attorneys, payroll companies, and third-party administrators. My role is to take the complex financial work that sits on the back burner and move it forward with precision. For owners who have employees, I also help their teams understand and use the retirement plan. I built this firm because I saw how often business owners work hard, generate strong income, and still lose unnecessary dollars to taxes and fragmented planning.
As a business owner myself, I understand the pressure, the workload, and the nonstop decisions. Owners come to me because they want meaningful tax reduction, stronger structure around their financial life, and a partner who actually understands what they deal with every day. My goal is simple. Significantly reduce taxes, strengthen the systems that build wealth for their family, and turn their business into a long-term financial engine.
Alongside my client work, I teach in CFP® certification programs at Boston University, Regis College, and through Greene Consulting who partners with the University of New Hampshire, University of Georgia, and James Madison University — working with financial advisors and aspiring planners across the country.
